A course designed for instruction in animal agriculture components including animal species, health, and nutrition, plant management pertaining to the forestry industry, parliamentary procedure, and additional instruction in agricultural mechanics, career development, leadership, and supervised agricultural experience. This semester-long course will offer students the opportunity to learn plant identification, floral maintenance and running a floral shop. Students will learn principles of design, design arrangements, sales, careers, leadership, record keeping, and have a supervised agricultural experience. Students will also participate in the National FFA Organization and learn much needed leadership skills. FFA membership is required and FFA activities are conducted in class.

This course develops a basic understanding of greenhouse techniques. The production of greenhouse crops will be used to demonstrate procedures such as plants started from cuttings, seeds, grafts, and layering. Students will manage their own crop as a greenhouse project. Students will also grow plants for the greenhouse sale in the spring. FFA membership is required and FFA activities are conducted in class.

This course utilizes metal working in the development and construction of major metal shop projects. Metals I will consist of eight tests over various metalworking practices, a small and medium project. Metals II will consist of three to four tests over advanced metalworking practices and several medium or two large projects. Metals II students must apply for the class with a list of projects that they plan to build during the school year before they are allowed in the class. FFA membership is required and FFA activities are conducted in class.

This course utilizes wood working in the development and construction of major woodshop projects. Students will be required to build a small, medium and large project in class in order to receive credit for the class. FFA membership is required and FFA activities are conducted in class.

This course will help students develop the skills needed to participate in a sales type career in a project based context. Students will build their understanding of sales and complete a capstone project. Students will also start their own cooperative as a class and work to potentially turn a profit and sell various made items This class also covers budgeting, economics, and today’s agriculture issues. This is a dual credit class offered through State Fair Community College. FFA membership is required and FFA activities are conducted in class.

This semester course is designed to inform the student on money making decisions for their future. Students learn about budgeting, credit scores and building credit, insurance, taxes, investing and retirement. FFA membership is required and FFA activities are conducted in class.

This spring semester course is a general agriculture knowledge class. Students will learn specific agriculture objectives when they choose a particular Career Development Event or Leadership Development Event over the course of the semester.
