The GFLS Project group is made up of 5 schools from Latvia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece and Spain. Next, you have a brief presentation of each school, with the video they made to introduce themselves to the rest of the partners and the link to their respective web pages.

Riga 22 Secondary School is situated in Riga, the capital of Latvia. Our school has got a long history (it was founded in 1945). Nowadays there are more than 600 students and more than 50 teachers.

General education program is offered to students in secondary (high) school. It is based on the equitable distribution of natural-scientific and humanitarian cycles. Our school develops the skills of the students, prepares them for university and makes them ready to get fit with the world of work. In the 2017-2018 school year, the educational process is carried out in six buildings, four housing primary classes and the other two housing the secondary school and high school classes. Our school is a school with a general education. Much attention is paid to bilingual and CLIL education, because there are students from bilingual families. For students with special needs for training there is a special teacher. Our school is the school where understand how important is to balance the study and the individuality of the child. Many students (11-19) take part in Debate studio. They participate in international competitions and win prizes. They can debate in Latvian, Russian and English.


Our basic school of Jubilejní Masarykova is located near the old town centre and Třinec ironworks. Part of pupils attending our school come from poor families, they are very socially disadvantaged children. Currently we have 544 students aged between 3 and 15 and at school there work 38 teachers. Our school has special classes with extended teaching of Mathematics, so we still look for different methods to help the students with improving their knowledge and increasing their interest of Mathematics and Science in general. As well we want to improve students communication in English. The key people in charge of running the project in the school will be: Our headteacher, who actively looks for new projects for school, organizes and leads leisure groups. She also prepares pupils for math competitions, organizes regional rounds of Mathematical Olympiad. And two english teacher, one English teacher is active member of eTwinning platform.She leads leisure groups of the English language in kindergarten and 1st and 2nd classes. She is actively involved in projects eTwinning, Erasmus + KA2 Strategic partnerships, Erasmus + KA 1, support conversational skills of teachers. We have a very stable staff in which all teachers have a permanent contract, so it the future nobody is going to change the workplace.

Modal Experimental Lower Secondary School of Heraklion is a public high school with 240 pupils aged 12 to 15 years. Includes 24 high qualified teachers of various specialties. The school’s curriculum is based on the National Curriculum of Greece, but can also be differentiated according to the specific traced needs or teachers’ availability. It is one of the main objectives of the school to experiment with innovative teaching methods and good educational practices. The school has established a long term partnership with the University of Crete and offers the opportunity for teaching practice to students from the University. Also, the school organizes a great range of optional extra curriculum classes for it’s pupils on various subjects, such as photography, theatre, handicrafts, robotics, astronomy, and web page design. One of the main tasks of our school is to experiment on new teaching methods and produce new educational material. We seek to cooperate with schools and other educational institutions in order to exchange ideas, share good practices and make the teaching process more effective. Hopefully, the specific project will give the opportunity to teachers and pupils to search for more creative and enjoyable ways of teaching science through a non academic discipline such as physical education. Moreover, it is a great opportunity for our pupils to come in contact with pupils of different background and culture.

Our school is situated in the Capital City of Croatia, Zagreb, near the river Sava in the central part of Croatia. In the school year 2017/2018. The elementary school of Fran Galovićstarts with 700 pupils deployed in 28 classes (15 classes I - IV and 13 V-VIII classes). In the school there is a program of extended stay for 6 groups of 1st and 2nd class. The elementary school of Fran Galović organizes and conducts educational activities in the area published in the Official Gazette of the City of Zagreb No. 9 of 30 June 1992. In the school year 2017/2018. a total of 70 school staff were employed in the school. All classes are covered professionally. The expert services are: pedagogues, psychologists, speech therapists and librarian. Our school tends to do better and to offfer new possibilities for our students and teachers. We have great cooperation with local science institutes that help us to do our projects and our students go there to learn in situ. Our teachers, professional associates and principals hold lectures at various professional conferences, from the municipal to the international level. The school is the seat of the workout for students from the Department of Pedagogy, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Zagreb. Structured work with potentially gifted students involves 5 licensed teachers working with gifted students in classroom and computer science.

Our school is in Benetússer, a small town on the outskirts of Valencia, 5 minutes from the city center. We are a private concerted Diocesan College, depending on the Parish

of Nuestra Señora del Socorro in Benetússer and therefore the Archbishop of Valencia. Currently we have 1,000 students aged between 3 and 18 who come from both Benetússer and Valencia and other surroundings. In our center we work 79 teachers, 4 secretaries and 2 caretakers. The center is divided into 2 separate buildings: one for the stages of infant, primary and first cycle of secundary and the other one for 2nd cycle of secundary and baccalaureate.

Also, we have our own sports club, Club Deportivo Nuestra Señora del Socorro, a private non-profit association with legal personality and capacity to act itself, whose sole purpose the promotion and practice of physical activity and sport in the federative level, since 1986. The motivation of our school is the same as that of the project itself: the search for new methodologies and approaches aimed at making the subjects of science and mathematics easier to understand, in order to reduce school failure. Our school is committed to educational innovation and teacher training in new methodologies.
