WHAT YOU WILL LEARN?
To draw the floor plan of your house.
To make a key.
1/ THINK/ IDEAS/ PLANNING:
How would you like it to be?
How many rooms it will have? How big are they?
Think about how many people will be in a room or hallway at one time.
Do people have room to move around?
2/ DRAW THE PERIMETER
Use a pencil to draw the exterior walls of the house.
Draw the surface of the house as big as the paper, to have a bigger scale.
Draw a second perimeter leaving a square between the first and the second one.
3/ INSIDE WALLS
Draw the inside walls following the same process.
Don't forget to plan where are you going to place the washing machine, tumble dryer, water heater...
4/ START DRAWING THE DOORS AND THE WINDOWS
The size of the windows and the doors can vary. For example: The door of the house will be bigger than the door of the wardrobe.
5/ FIND TEMPLATES TO DRAW THE UTILITIES.
The house needs sinks, bathrooms, stove, a refrigerator...
Without a template, simply draw a basic shape of the top view of these utilities. There is no need to go into much detail, just enough to know what each utility is.
6/ TO GET AN IDEA OF THE FINAL RESULT, try to draw the furniture.
Some examples of furniture could be beds, tables, televisions, armchairs and chairs...
There are also templates to draw these items. Keep it simple and try to draw everything as a square or rectangle.
7/ WRITE THE NAME OF THE ROOMS IN CAPITAL LETTERS
8/ MATERIALS:
Grid paper
A pencil
Colour markers
Ruler (optional)
Rubber
KEY:
Make a list with of all the elements that you have used in your floor plan and draw beside them the basic top view shape as I show you in the example below.
