Auditions will be held September 5th and 6th (Tues and Wed) beginning at 2:30PM each day, ending at 5:00 PM. There are two possible times to sign up for each day. 2:30 or 3:45. Auditions will take about 1 hour 15 minutes. and will be conducted in groups of 8 - 10. (Audition sign up link below)
These auditions will be informal in nature and are intended more as an opportunity for us to get to know you and your current skill level in voice, acting and dance. You will not be expected to be "perfect" in audition (no one ever is). If you are nervous in audition, CONGRATULATIONS! you are now a member of an exclusive club of almost all the great performers in history!
You will find this audition process more like a workshop than a formal audition. We will be onstage and interacting with you at all times.
Come prepared to move. Wear comfortably fitting clothing. You will be learning a very short dance combination with the other members of your audition group. You will not be asked to audition individually.
Select a section of a song (16-bars preferably, but a little longer would be fine!). You should choose a song that you like, and that is in a good range to show off your vocal ability. Remember, do not choose a song in which you have to strain to sing the high or low notes. You will sing this song without accompaniment (a capella).
You may choose to read from sides (Don't know what a side is??? Check this link out! https://vimeo.com/68137136) for the character(s) you'd like to be considered for. Others in your group may be asked randomly to read the other roles in your audition piece. There are three main categories of sides, two for the High School parts, One for the Adult parts.
After reading the required piece, you may be asked to read one or more additional sides. You should not assume that means you are not being considered for the role(s) you want. It may mean that the team is just interested in seeing how you work with a different character.

The following two sides are for people interested in auditioning for any male role that is of High School age in the show. Ren, Chuck, Willard, etc. Please familiarize yourself with the text and think about the characters using "broad strokes". What do you think they are like? Do you know anyone in your life that's like them?
Please choose one of these sides to audition with. You do not need to memorize the side (although some may prefer to) but you should be very familiar with it.

Looking for an acting challenge? Want to really get into some character work and stretch your range as an actor/singer? The adult roles in this show call for strong portrayals of real people. Don't feel that you have to play these roles just like an adult to be successful. That's simply not possible. We will be finding mannerisms and character elements that are adult in nature for you to use. That along with proper costuming and makeup will do the trick!
Here's a link to ALL the sides we may use during the course of the auditions.
(Hint - those who are familiar with them all will be better prepared if we think you might be the right fit for something you hadn't thought of!)
