In this experimentation task, I was able to test out my Photoshop skills and refamiliarise myself with all of the tools and layouts in Photoshop. This was a very fun and helpful task that went really well, as I have previously used Photoshop in my GCSE BTEC Media course almost every lesson for three years, so I found this task to be very fun because I was able to carry out what I am good at in terms of design. In addition to this, it allowed me to get familiar with the newer version of Photoshop as I was using the 2019 version in my media course because that is the year I started the GCSE course. This task was also helpful because I will being needing to use Photoshop to design all the assets for my group game, so building on my skills now will help me when it comes to actually designing my game assets.
I have attached the full deck of 32 Top Tump cards below. I have chosen to create Resident Evil Top Trump cards because I really enjoy playing various Resident Evil games and no official deck of Resident Evil Top Trump cards exist so I thought that I should be original and design something that I would enjoy and wish was a real product.
I carried out a playtest with a classmate and they found my Top Trump deck to be enjoyable, fun and very well designed. The playtest went as well as I had hoped, as the play tester liked the theme of the deck and really enjoyed the consistency between the designs on each of the cards. From this playtest session I learned that my card deck is enjoyable to play, but I think that the size of the cards need to be adjusted to better fit in the hand of the player. I don't think that anything else needs to be changed in terms of stats or design because the numbers worked really well and the gameplay only lasted for 5 - 10 minutes. I also had the opportunity to playtest a classmates Top Trump deck, their deck was based on Steven Universe. I found their Top Trump deck to be exciting and enjoyable, but I think that the numbers on their stats need to be adjusted because most of the cards are too overpowered. In addition, the size of their cards need to be increase as the text displayed on the cards are too small to read, other than that I enjoyed playing their Top Trumps deck.

In Maya, I created a 3D render of a die. This task went well but I encountered a few issues whilst going through this process, for example the panes kept grouping together and I could not combine the assets, but I later resolved this issue by ungroup the assets and then combining the singular die icon asset. I have learnt some basic skills in how to use Maya and I hope to expand this knowledge further when I begin to design my customised die for our final game. I will apply this built up knowledge so far and use it in the creation of this customised die. Overall, I was very pleased with this task and how I was able to resolve some issues that came up.
