40th Annual O&B Classic

 Welcome to the 40th Annual Paul Wintz/Tom Bowen Orange and Black Classic Basketball Tournament. Colby High School is excited to host a great tournament with 16 teams from Colorado and Kansas. Holding the Classic in the new Colby Event Center has proven to be more accommodating to the teams and spectators. In Colby, we are truly blessed with this beautiful new facility and the volunteers that allow this tournament to take place. 

I hope all spectators remember that cheering for our teams adds excitement to the game, while yelling negative comments takes just as much away from the competition. Having fun at the Event Center while watching our athletes play their hearts out will create memories that will last them a lifetime. Welcome to Colby and the 40th Annual Paul WIntz/Tom Bowen Orange & Black Classic Basketball Tournament. This Tournament is one of the most prestigious basketball tournaments in the state of Kansas and has been known for the competitive teams that participate in it each year. This year’s teams will be no different. We are pleased to host sixteen teams from Kansas and Colorado that will be competing for the Championship trophy. Some of these teams are state-ranked, which will create an exciting field and great atmosphere. The tournament is, first and foremost, for the players--affording them the opportunity to share in the competitive spirit of personal and team accomplishment. The experience of participating builds character and discipline that will last a lifetime.

We are very thankful for the numerous individuals that have spent their time and effort in helping make this tournament a success. Without the dedication, support, and involvement of the community, patrons, fans, and staff of USD 315, this tournament would not be one of the premier sporting events in Kansas. It is the hope of the tournament manager that this basketball experience will result in lasting friendships among players, coaches, and fans. Remember to assist in the promotion and achievement of good sportsmanship. Take personal responsibility for keeping the Orange & Black Classic at a high level of fair, clean, and wholesome competition.
