This year, the Orange and Black Basketball Classic is proud to welcome Don Cameron as our featured speaker. 

Don Cameron, a 1969 graduate of Decatur Community High School, has deep roots in northwest Kansas athletics. He excelled in football, basketball, and track during high school, then continued his athletic journey at Colby Community College and later at McPherson College. He earned a master’s degree from Wichita State University and has had a remarkable coaching career in Kansas high school sports. 

Over the years, Don has coached at Canton-Galva High School, Newton High School, Wichita East High School, and Buhler High School. He has amassed over 600 victories, eight state tournament appearances, 13 league championships, and 23 tournament championships. Beyond the wins, Don was also the President of Kansas Basketball Coaches Association. 

Don’s legacy is deeply tied to the relationships he’s built with players and colleagues. Don’s personal life is equally inspiring. He was married to his beloved wife, Susan, for 49 years until her tragic passing two years ago. Together, they raised four athletic children—Chris, Aubrey, Brandon, and Brooke—who themselves continued in athletics and have gifted Don and Susan with 15 grandchildren.

 At the heart of Don Cameron’s journey is his faith, which he credits as the center of his life. We are honored to have Don Cameron share his experiences and insights at the 2026 Orange and Black Basketball Classic.
