Colby Choirs

The Colby Choir program offers vocal music instruction to grades 6 through 12 in the Colby School District. Students have the opportunity to participate in many performance experiences and grow as musicians in several ensemble options. All 6th graders participate in general music, and then have the option to pursue choir in 7th and 8th grade. In high school, there is Mixed Choir (mixed voice, non-auditioned ensemble for 9-12), Hornettes (auditioned treble voice show choir), and Coalition (auditioned mixed voice show choir). Another high school general music option is History of Rock n' Roll.

Carmen Wells, Choir & General Music

Ms. Wells became the Colby Choir Director and General Music Teacher for the Middle School and the High School starting in the 2020-21 school year. She is a graduate of UW-Whitewater, class of 2019, and has been involved in music most of her life. She grew up playing the clarinet, singing, dancing ballet, and participating in theater.
"As a music educator, I intend to provide a safe environment for students to come together to make music, and strive to provide many approaches to help cater to all styles of learners. My favorite quote regarding this matter is: “What is necessary for one is beneficial for all.” My hope is that all students leave my classroom with a greater appreciation for music of all styles, and that they are more whole as a human because of it."
“I think music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.” ― Billy Joel
"Ah, music, a magic beyond all we do here!" Albus Dumbledore
