Feeling lost and overwhelmed? Do you need some help finding your feet in the course? An individual TA session may help!
You may wish to schedule such a meeting for any of the following reasons:
to get help with some prerequisite material,
to review material from earlier parts of the course,
to discuss strategies for being successful in the course,
to learn about a more advanced student's trajectory through mathematics.
To be eligible for an individual TA session you must be putting forth your best effort in the course, including:
starting each week's homework well ahead of the due date
working with other students in a study group
interacting with your professor every week during office hours
attending TA help sessions every week.
A couple of things to remember
These sessions aren't for homework help. You are expected to work on your own, with peers, attend TA help sessions, and attend office hours for help with current problem sets.
The math department doesn't assign individual tutors to students, so if you think you would benefit from a tutor you are encouraged to request an individual TA session. But even if you're doing well with the course, you're also welcome to schedule a meeting just to chat with a TA.
Our goal here is to help you develop mathematical independence and the ability to think critically and creatively. Plus, it makes sure we're using our resources wisely and fostering an intellectual campus community.
(NEW: Google form posted. ) You can request an individual meeting by filling out this Google form. Once your request is approved by the professor, a TA will contact you to set up an individual meeting.
