Agriscience Explorations 

Agriscience Exploration is an exploratory course that provides Grade 8 students the opportunity to gain knowledge and acquire skills relating to the agricultural industry. Topics include career opportunities, safety, aquaculture, animal science, plant science, soil science, ecology, conservation, impact of agriculture, and Agri marketing. Instruction also focuses on agriscience technologies in the areas of woodworking, electricity, and power mechanics. 


Welding 1

This a one-credit course that provides students with a fundamental understanding of welding safety, basic shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), blueprint reading, weld symbols, and identification of shop equipment. Students acquire knowledge for the safe operation of SMAW processes and oxyfuel cutting. Upon successful completion of this course, students can interpret lines, views, and dimensions of weld joint configurations and weld symbols; identify oxyfuel cutting equipment and components; determine the proper setup of equipment for application; identify safety hazards and welding equipment related to SMAW; and make quality welds with E6013 and E7014 electrodes in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions. This entry-level course may be taken as one of the optional technical courses with credit applied to the Industrial Maintenance Technology program.   


Welding 2

Welding 2 is a 1 credit course that is an extension of welding 1. In welding 2 students will extend their knowledge of everything they learned in welding one as well as learning how to make quality TIG and MIG welds. They will also learn how to make quality welds with E6010 and E7018 electrodes in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.


Industrial Maintenance 

This one credit course provides an overview of the basics of an industrial technician’s responsibilities and skills. Topics include safety, measurement, basic employability skills, material handling, rigging, construction mathematics, and construction drawings. 


Construction 

This one credit course in the construction technology program will ground the trainee in the basic knowledge and principles of carpentry and cabinetmaking. Students will become skilled in different phases of a project from start to finish. Once completing this course, the student will be able to interpret construction drawings, and frame walls, ceilings, and floors of a structure. Emphasis is placed on job safety, use of hand tools and stationary power tools, materials and hardware, various types of joinery, and component assembly and installation This program covers content such as Building Materials, Cabinet Fabrication, and Advanced Wall Systems. 


Agriscience

Agriscience is a basic knowledge class that covers everything from farm to plate. that includes plant, animal, soil, and crop science.
