Auditorium Renovations

Renovations are currently underway in the (soon-to-be) new CHHS Performing Arts Center! We can't wait to welcome you into our new space! 

AAEI Grant Recipient

We are thrilled to announce that we are a recipient of the AAEI Grant from the Alabama State Department of Education! This 10K grant is the final cycle of the grant phase for our department, bringing the total grant funds from the ALSDE to 40K dollars over the last three years! We are so thankful to the state department for their support of our department!

We know you see the amazing talent of our students on stage, but this grant was written to implement a technical theatre program here at CHHS. Our ultimate goal is to have completely student-run productions. The impact of this grant and the implementation of this program were evident during our latest production of Newsies. Even as large-scale a musical as this was, our students had a hand in every single part of the production phase, and during the entire run of the production, students handled every aspect of production, including lighting design, lighting operation, stage management, costume design, etc. Our students have been able to develop skills that will benefit them after high school, no matter their involvement in the arts. This is due to the support of the ALSDE. This grant is helping to create lifelong learners because of their involvement in the arts!

Additionally, we are a recipient of a $2,600 grant from the Alabama State Council for the Arts!

This brings the total of grants received in the last five years to roughly $80,000!
