How To Set Up Zoom

SETTING UP

1. Go to www.zoom.us and click the ‘Sign up, it’s free’ button on the top right.

2. Enter your email address, and Zoom will send you an email message to verify the address is correct. Click the "Activate your Zoom account" button.

3. Then go back to www.zoom.us and proceed to download the app. You can also download the app to your phone or tablet and enter your email address and password and then you can Zoom from virtually anywhere.

Joining our meeting

1. We will send you a zoom link via email.

It will look like this:

2. Click the Join Zoom Meeting link and another window will open on your computer or phone.

3. Click on the ‘open zoom.us’ button and the app will open

You will then be prompted to select your audio and video settings. Note there is an option to test speaker and microphone, so you can verify they are working.

Using Zoom during the night

Mute

When we need to tell everyone something, we will mute you. At other times you can unmute to talk to everybody playing.

Chat

We will be using the Zoom chat to send you a link for each round of the trivia.

On Windows and Mac, look for the Chat button down the bottom.

On iPhone, iPad and Android, tap the screen, then tap the ... More, and then you will see the Chat option.

Once in the Chat, we'll send you a link to the questions for the round, something like this.

Click or tap on the link, and you'll see something like this (no, these aren't questions you'll see on the night).

Each round has twenty questions.

At the top of the questions, please choose your team name from the list.

If you are the team captain, after you have completed all questions, click on the Submit button.

After you have submitted your answers, you'll see a message like this:

Return to Zoom

Once you have completed the questions for a round, you can return to Zoom.

Windows

Click or tap on Zoom in the taskbar, or press Alt-Tab to move between your applications.

Mac

Click on the Zoom icon in the Dock, or swipe left or right on the trackpad.

iPad

Tap the Home button, then the Zoom icon.

iPhone

While you are looking at the questions, there is a green bar at the top of iPhone screen saying "< Zoom". Tap on that.

Android

Swipe down from the top of the screen to see your notifications, and tap on "Zoom meeting in progress". Or tap on the square at the bottom to see all running apps, and tap on Zoom.
