How to Access

A SchoolTool account is automatically created for any individual listed as a parent or legal guardian in SchoolTool. To access your account:

Check your email account for an email with the subject “New Cohoes Parent Portal Login Information” (If this email is not in your inbox, please check your SPAM or Junk folder)
Click the link in the email
Login using your email address as your username and the password provided in the email
Once logged in, you may use the ACCOUNT tab to change your password and see a history of your logins

Login using your email address as your username and the password

Home Screen

Once logged in, the landing page (My Home) defaults to the STUDENTS tab. Here you will see a list of all of your children that are currently enrolled in the district. Click a child's name to view listed contacts, attendance data, discipline data, and grades.

Using SchoolTool

STUDENTS Tab

From My Home, click on a child's name to view listed contacts, attendance data, discipline data, and grades. If you find any discrepancies with contacts, addresses, or phone numbers, please notify the main office in your child’s building .

CAMPUS Tab

This area will let you know what current day it is in each building's schedule cycle in which you have a child is enrolled.

ACCOUNT Tab

Use this area to change your password and see a history of your logins.

MESSAGES Tab

This area would include any correspondence sent via SchoolTool from district staff or teachers.

Viewing Student Information

From My Home, click on a child's name.

CONTACTS Tab - Will show student personal information on file with the district and all parent and adult contacts for the child. This screen show you what class the child is currently in when the school day is in session. If you find any discrepancies with the information in this area, please notify the main office in your child’s building.

ATTENDANCE Tab - Will display the current school year's attendance for the child including days absent, late, dismissed early, etc. Use the School Year drop down to view attendance data from past school years.

DISCIPLINE Tab - This area will have a list of the child's disciplinary referrals, if any. Click on a referral to see more information such as the date of the offense, description of what occurred, and the assigned disposition. Use the School Year drop down to view discipline data from past years.

GRADES Tab - This area will show a child's current classes, period schedule, and teachers. The default view is set for the current grading period. A grade will not display until the grading period has ended and report cards have been finalized.

"School Year" drop down: View grades from a previous school year (Note: 2023-2024 is still being transferred from Synergy)
"View" drop down: Toggle between Marking Period Grades, Progress Report Grades, Marking Period Average, and Assessment Grades
- Marking Period Grades: Once selected, choose a Quarter (6-12) or Trimester (K-5)
- Progress Report Grades: Once selected, choose a Quarter Progress Report (6-12 only)
- Marking Period Average: Set the School Year drop down to the current year, then select Marking Period Average. Choose a Quarter. The Marking Period Average will only be visible for completed Quarters (6-12 only)
- Assessment Grades: Choose a school year to view Assessment Grades from. Any Regents' exams and State Tests scored during the selected school year will display.
Note: The Quarter or Trimester dropdown will appear once selecting Marking Period Grades, Progress Report Grades, or Marking Period Average

LETTERS Tab - This area will show any documents generated from SchoolTool that were sent home by the district i.e. discipline letters.

Using the SchoolTool Mobile App

STEP 1 Install the SchoolTool mobile app Android, iOS

STEP 2 Enter the URL for the Cohoes School District: schooltool7.neric.org/SchoolTool_COHO/Default.aspx

STEP 3 On the login screen, enter your email address as the user name and your password

HOME SCREEN OVERVIEW

All of your children that are enrolled in the Cohoes City Schools District will be listed on this screen
For each child the following displays:
- Building
- Day in the school cycle
- Class and room number the child is currently in (only displays when classes are in session)

OPTIONS MENU OVERVIEW

Use the menu of options in the top left to do the following:

SETTINGS: Enable or disable push notifications and set your language preference
HELP: View documentation on how to use the app

VIEW CHILD INFORMATION

There are two ways to access information for a child:

From the Home screen, click on a child's tile
From the Options menu (top left), select a child

GRADES

Class grades will not display for a grading period until the grading period closes and grades have been submitted by teachers. You can view past grading periods for the school year using the quarter or trimester options. To see current class grades and assignments while a grading period is in progress, check Schoology.

ATTENDANCE

View Daily Attendance for the current school year. Absences, tardies, and early dismissals will be listed, if any. Change DAILY ATTENDANCE to COURSE ATTENDANCE to view attendance information pertaining to specific classes.

CONTACTS

The CONTACTS Tab will show all parent and adult contacts for the child. The STUDENT INFO Tab will show student personal information on file with the district. If you find any discrepancies with the information in this area, please notify the main office in your child’s building.

NOTE: Mobile versions of apps have less features than the desktop version. For a complete view of discipline and historical records, access SchoolTool from the web on a computer.
