Emerson Porter is a junior triple major studying English, Creative Writing, and Philosophy with minors in Rhetoric/Writing and Theatre. Emerson spends their free time refurbishing old furniture, gardening, and writing writing writing about just about any and everything. They are honored to be the Editor-in-Chief of The Pearl or the second year in a row now, taking their time to read through entries and set regulations to make sure that the magazine runs as smoothly and inclusively as possible.
Enza McMahon is a sophomore here at Coe, and she is thrilled for you to see this edition of the Pearl! She is also the president of Environmental Club and an avid koala-lover.
Adele Dummermuth is sophomore studying Creative Writing, Rhetoric, English, and History. She loves all writing but has a particular passion for poetry, especially the haiku.
Arianne Maxwell is a sophomore English major at Coe. She loves poetry, and is very happy to be working alongside her friends and coworkers for The Pearl.
Aj Jensen is a first-year double majoring in Political Science and English. She loves Dr. Pepper and Kraft Mac and Cheese. They spend all of there free time either in the Green Room in Dows or playing the Sims 4. She is excited to work hard to help make The Pearl a success!
Katie Kerlik is an English/Creative writing major and a 1st year at Coe. She's from Louisville, NE. She likes reading, writing, and fishing.
Kylie Hoy is a junior studying English and Business Administration. This is her second year reading for the Pearl. If you can't find her in the Writing Center or out giving a campus tour, she's probably marching around campus in a bright yellow trench coat.
Courtney Rhinehart is a Freshman English and Creative Writing major. She loves to read, write, draw, play piano, and bake when she has free time.
Beth VanDyk is a sophomore majoring in English and Creative Writing. In addition to being on The Pearl team, they run the Coetry Quarto in the Writing Center and help lead a few clubs on campus. They enjoy drinking tea, reading, and board games.
Logan Mathis is a senior who loves poetry, theater, and fiction. She bases her life around art and strives to make this world just a little bit more beautiful.
Lee Munchoff is in their second year at Coe, studying economics and data science and working in the writing center. In their spare time, they enjoy performing comedic speeches and acting in Coe's theater program. They're currently trying to overcome the discomfort of listening to recordings of their own voice.
Ashton Proctor is a freshman at Coe majoring in Public Accounting, Business Administration, and Social & Criminal Justice and a member of the women's soccer team.
Alli Hagness is a first year student studying biology and chemistry. A few things she loves is hanging out with friends, petting cats, and playing tennis!
Shannon Grogan is a Coe College first-year student majoring in Social and Criminal Justice and Environmental Studies. She works in the Coe Writing Center and she plays on the Coe Women's Soccer team.
Hailey Schipper is a junior English and Creative Writing major. She enjoys reading, writing, sewing, knitting, crocheting, painting--basically any arts and crafts you could imagine. Her favorite past time on campus is trying to pet the squirrels and chasing geese.

Enza loves animals because she is obsessed with koalas and is the mom of two loving (most of the time...) cats, a silly dog, and the aunt of a grumpy hedgehog!
HJ Hass is a senior Writing and English double-major at Coe. In addition to their work on the Pearl they are also Co-Editor of Flowers Bloom Through Concrete, a zine produced in collaboration with the University of Iowa Prison Writing Project. In their free time they enjoy DJ-ing for Coe's radio station, reading, attempting the NYT Sunday crossword, cooking and eating soup, and dreaming of a national high speed rail system.

She also enjoys knitting, drinking tea or coffee, and watching shows like Gilmore Girls on Netflix. A favorite pastime of hers on campus is seeing how many bananas she and her roommate can smuggle out of the Caf.
Kylie Hoy is a sophomore English and Business Administration major. She appreciates spending time outdoors, checking out new cafes, and reading Jane Austen. If you can't find her taking a lap around campus in an insanely bright yellow trench coat, she's probably holed up writing--but never finishing--a novel in her room.
