Low Threshold Tech Option: "That's Fine!"

emails: if email is your go-to communication tool and you are considering using this as your primary means for distributing assignments and having them returned consider the following

• create a label (distro list) for your class:

  • go to the apps (little squares in the upper right-hand corner of email) and choose Contacts
  • on the left-hand column, click + Label (it's below any other labels you might already have). Type in the name of your class or whatever you want to call this group (and remember what you call it!)
  • in the same left-hand column, click Contacts at the top. Search for the first student in your course.
  • click the three little dots in the upper right-hand side of the pop-up window for the student, and click the name of the label you just created. You'll see a check-mark appear next to the label. Click the X to close this pop up window and search for the next student in your class and repeat.
  • TO SEND EMAIL TO LIST: instead of typing the name of a student into the to: line, start typing the name of your label. Google will find it for you and you can click it to populate the to: field.

• create a standard subject phrase that will go on EVERY email along with the specific subject.

  • ex. Subject: EDU219 March 10 Reading Materials: Due March 12
  • Why? Creates a message that is easily searchable. Students may be getting extra emails during suspension of courses and you want them to be able to quickly find emails regarding your course.
    • Keep subjects very specific
    • do not put multiple topics in one email (sounds counter intuitive - but this also helps search and find efforts)
