I provide tele-health services from a virtual office. For the last 10 years I have provided counseling services to help individuals, couples, families, children, teens, and adults reach set goals. I want to use my experience and knowledge to best help you.
Education:
I graduated Stephen F. Austin State University in 2008 with a major in Psychology. I graduated Texas A&M University Corpus Christi 2010 with a masters degree with an emphasis on marriage and family counseling.
Work Experience:
I worked for 3 years in a nonprofit organization helping with the prevention and intervention of abuse in families. I worked with adult survivors of abuse as well as children experiencing abuse. I also worked as the assistant clinical director, supervising and training counseling interns.
I have since worked 7+ years in private practice. I have worked with a range of populations with a range of issues.
Therapy style:
I use a unique combination of cognitive behavioral therapy and christian counseling to help science combine with religion/spirituality to help people find and walk out a sense of meaning and purpose. I focus on challenging distortions (thought lies) keeping people stuck from seeing their true potential. I also use a focus on love to help build and maintain resiliency and direction in life, while pointing out how truly valuable and worthy you are to yourself and to the lives of others around you.
Types of Therapy Utilized
CBT focuses on challenging and changing cognitive distortions (thought lies) and behaviors, improving emotional regulation, and the development of personal coping strategies that target solving current problems.
Logotherapy is a school of psychology and a philosophy based on the idea that we are strongly motivated to live purposefully and meaningfully, and that we find meaning in life as a result of responding authentically and humanely (i.e. meaningfully) to life’s challenges.
