Early Life
Marie Lu was born July 11, 1984 in Wuxi, Jiangsu, China and given the birth name Xiwei Lu. Later At the age of 5 her family fled to Texas during the during the Tienanmen Square Protest after the massacre of students and that began her settling into the united states. Throughout her childhood Lu also lived in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Georgia, and Houston; later graduating from the University of Southern California. Careers
While studying political science and biology at the University of Southern California, Marie got the opportunity to enter the video game industry, landing an internship as an artist at the Disney Interactive Studios. Later meeting her husband and creating a game called "Fuzz Academy" While writing her hit book "Legend" and "The Young Elites". After her series went viral, Lu was asked by DC comics to write a story about 18-year-old Bruce Wayne, who becomes Batman. Today, Marie is shift her focus on her writing, providing us with books such as

In recent years Marie Lu, her husband (Primo Gallanosa ), son (BaoBao Gallanosa) , and pet dogs (one Chihuahua mix, and two Pembroke Welsh corgis.) live in Santa Monica, California in a modernist loft writing to her hearts desire while her husband is a video game-artist. Living in a area to inspire creative outlet is important for the writer so her apartment is decorated to the core with "vintage NASA posters, neat stacks of comic books, and a carefully curated collection of stuffed animals." and " A section of the walls and floor is painted with the geometric patterns featured in one of Lu's favorite video games, Monument Valley." Which is said to inspired her book War cross. Now a full-time writer, she spends her time reading, drawing, and playing video games.
