Identification of author style
Agatha Christie’s writing is mainly focused on mystery and crime. She likes to make her stories to where the readers have to find who did it, and why they did those murders. There are always surprises and twists in Christie's plots that end up shocking the readers.
Agatha Christie always makes her characters suspicious and every single one of them seems guilty in a certain way. There are always specific aspects to each character that play a big part in the story. The detectives are always smart and are able to pick out the small yet important details, while the other characters have hidden secrets.
The settings in Christie's books are always usual places like houses and towns. Since these are common places it makes it seem like it is someone they know. It also happens so close to all the characters which makes them all suspects to the crimes.
Christie also makes her sentence structure very easy to understand. When reading it is easy to imagine what is going on and she makes it simple to follow her story. She gives hints and clues to the readers and keeps the tone very suspenseful to keep the reader confused and guessing throughout the book.

The house was empty.
I stepped through the creaking doorway. The house was quiet. No one to be seen. Every inch I stepped the floor creaked louder and louder as I went.
“Weird, isn’t it?” said Mrs. Williams as she walked in behind me. “ The house is never empty is it?”
I didn’t answer at first. My head was spinning, confused as to why Mrs. Williams is here, and how she knew it was empty. I knew something was going on if she was here but I didn’t know what.
“ You seem surprised,” she added very calmly.
A loud noise came from down the hallway before I could respond to Mrs. Williams.
We both jumped in fear, not knowing what that was.
“Do you know what that was?” I uttered.
“I… I don’t know.” she whispered.
We both began to slowly walk forward till we reached the door, the floor continued to creek as we approached it and grabbed the handle.
“Something must be in there. I don’t know what but I know it is something. Mrs. Williams and I begin to twist the cold, old handle to the door and pull it open till we can see inside.
A body on the floor. The body of Mrs. Williams' son.
Both Mrs. Williams and I step back, confused, and shocked. Mrs. Williams begins to cry and weep at the sight of her son there on the floor.
Mrs. William was upset. Her son was 24 years old. He was just out of college starting to become an Accountant. He was successful. He was a happy and healthy guy, and was a great son, beginning to start his life yet is dead at his mothers feet.
“We need to call someone and figure out what happened and figure out who did it.”
Explanation of student emulation
Setting- For the setting I used a house that was very quiet but with the floor creaking for suspense. Agatha Christie makes her crime occur in common places like houses so that is why I used a quiet house as the setting. It made what was happening seem realistic and mysterious.
Characters- For characters I used two characters, Mrs Williams and the speaker, as well as the victim who was dead in the closet, Mrs. Williams' son. Christie always has multiple characters who play a part in these crimes. Both of the characters were looking for where the loud sound came from, just like the detectives in Christie's books.
Tone and word choice- The tone of the writing was suspenseful and worrisome. The description of the scene and the intense language created tension and questions about what was going on. Examples are, “ the floor creaking” as well as, “ we twisted the cold, old door handle.” It is easy to understand but it gets the reader thinking, just like Christie's writings.
