Early Life
Agatha Christie was born on September 15th, 1890, in Torquay, Devon, in the southwest part of England. She was the youngest of three siblings. her mother is, Clara, and her father, Frederick Miller. Their family lived in a well off existence at Ashfield, it was a larger home not far from the sea, it had a nice garden and lots of room for the girls to play. Agatha childhood was different than usual childhoods. She was taught at home rather than going to school which wasn't seen as much. Her mother loved telling stories but didn't want her to learn how to read until she reached 8 years old. Yet, since she was home alone often at a young age, she taught herself how to read at the age of 5. Her favorite things to read were often thrillers and poetry. She enjoyed inventing imaginary friends, playing with animals and writing her own poems. Shortly after Agatha turned 11, her father had passed which was completely devastating. At age 18, she had completely fell in love with writing short stories. Her early Life was always involved with imagination, creativity, and the overall amazement she had when it came to writting stories. Agatha's family and dedication helped shape her into becoming one of the most famous mystery authors.
Writing
Agatha Christie first really began writing during the first world war. she was working as a nurse and created stories with her knowledge of medicines and poisons to create realistic mystery novels. Agatha Road 66 detective novels, 14 short story collections, and several plays. she earned the name “ queen of Mystery”. She often wrote about crime and mystery, but also wrote a few romance novels. She always said that she had no interest in being a writer yet she made her first poem at 11 years old that was printed in the local newspaper. She really had no interest in becoming a writer it only helped her later in life when she became an author. everything she wrote came from her curiosity and thoughts of things that she enjoyed which made her story of life like and relatable to the people who were reading. it helped her use examples from real life experiences and overall giving her original ideas that have not been used before.While riding her novels she would always work out the plot details and right Clues down in her notebooks or even keep them in her head before she actually put pen to paper. She would dictate her stories into a machine called a Dictaphone. She Wrote very quickly yet wasn't very mechanical. Her writing was full of imagination and was always well though out. She always write realistic and relatable novels that kept people intrigued and wanting more the whole time. Her amazing characters and creative stories is what made her into one of the most well known mystery writers out there.
Struggles as an Author
All throughout Christie's life she faced hardships that had influence on her writing. When she was 11 her father had passed away which was a big turning point in her life and caused many hardships. The passing of her father made things harder but also put a lot more on her mother to take care of three kids as well as all other responsibilities she had on top of that.When their father had passed money quickly became an issue. Now Clara not only had to control the household but as well as other things that she didn't normally have to be responsible for. Later in her life when she was an adult, her mother passed away. After her father passed, it was a lot harder hearing the news that her mother had passed away from an illness.She experienced another loss, her husband. Her husband told her that he no longer wanted to be with her and was in love with another woman. After the loss of her husband and mother she disappeared for 11 days which grabbed the media's attention largely.She drove away in her car with her actions showing signs of a possible suicide. Her car was found abandoned near a quarry but before it had the chance of going over the edge it had stopped and was found in a hotel. She ended up using the losses she had gone through into powerful pieces of writing and created many very successful novels following. She created very detailed novels along the lines of things that she has gone through in her life. Although she had gone through the loss of her father, mother, and husband it always just motivated her to be a better writer. She always used her personal experiences and thoughts and created them into knowledgeable pieces of writing. Overall she transformed pain into reading that could be relatable in many ways to many different people.
