Demographics

The charts that follow provide demographic information about respondents. The response categories chosen for each demographic question are informed by, but not exactly aligned with, those used for the United States Census survey. Quotas to ensure a nationally representative sample on certain demographics were attained for Age, Sex, Ethnicity, Household Income, Political Affiliation and Region.

In 2022 we added simple clarifications to some response categories, including: Agnostic (not sure if there is a God), Atheist (do not believe in God), Catholic (Roman Catholic), Jewish (Judaism), Mormon (Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints/LDS), Muslim (Islam), Orthodox (Greek, Russian or other), Protestant (Baptist, Methodist, Non-denominational, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Pentecostal, Episcopalian, Reformed, Church of Christ, Jehovah's Witness).
