• Raised in Baltimore MD, Bundy was undaunted by his modest upbringing and the racial challenges of the era. His perseverance will be inspiring to youth being raised in Bridgeport which like Baltimore, is also an industrial port city that once championed manufacturing.

• The first black enlisted Sailor to rise through the ranks and command a submarine One of the Centennial Seven, the only African Americans to command a submarine during the 20th century (one of the first seven African Americans to command submarines in the first 100 years of our submarine force)
• Lauded mentor and STEM advocate, having served as a Naval War College associate provost, professor and director of the VADM Samuel L. Gravely Research Group at the NWC. In 1993, Bundy received the Black Engineer of the Year Award for Outstanding Achievement in Government.
