Students in every year group receive careers information and advice via a blended approach
We work with our Enterprise Adviser, Sharon Howes [Director of People Services at the Martlets Hospice] to identify ways of tailoring our provision to the needs of employers and other providers.
We want students to gain an understanding of the world of work and take inspiration from a rich variety of live and online encounters. These include:
the delivery of PSHE sessions exploring: self-awareness, progression pathways, factors affecting career choice, the labour market and career management skills
virtual and curriculum-led sessions with speakers from or visits relating to the world of work
virtual work experience opportunities for students in Years 10 and 11
the offer of an experience of the workplace to post-16 students
the Moving On Day and Taster Day
Virtual and face to face Careers Fairs – where employers, training providers, universities and other external speakers broaden and challenge the outlook of our students, exposing them to a range of exciting and stimulating opportunities
career and employment notices, links to useful career websites made accessible via Google Classroom
embedding careers information and guidance into the curriculum
In addition to the advice and support offered by school staff at key decision-making points, our students also have access to an independent, CDI Registered Careers Adviser, Amanda Carroll, who is based in the College every Tuesday – offering both a drop-in session and booked appointments.
