The Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA) of the College of Business and Management offers a quality learning climate that significantly helps realize goals of becoming sought-after office professionals occupying supervisory and managerial posts among organizations. The BSOA program of the University hones the best professionals to handle the multifaceted scenes in the workplace. The department’s national awards speak for their competence in developing learners to gain the necessary skills to become experts in the office administration and human resource management arenas. The Office Administration department of Central Mindanao University aims to empower students to own innovative mindset, functional knowledge, and global skills relating to Office and Public Administration, as well as Human Resource Management for career opportunities.
Setting the Standards
The Policies, Standards, and Guidelines (PSG) of the program strictly adhere to the requirements set in the CHED Memorandum Order No. 19 Series of 2017. The degree program shall be called Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA). The program is a four-year course that prepares the students for a career in an outcome-focused, technology-rich, professional environment. Courses in the curriculum are those that will thoroughly familiarize the students with current techniques in office practice and procedures, developments in office systems and technology, good team-working and management skills, and application of the principles of good human relations and communications to prepare them to be key players in day-to-day office operations. Lessons in writing routine reports and correspondence and speaking effectively to employers, employees, and the general public are provided in selected courses. The BSOA program also trains the students to work independently, without the need for on-site supervision. To ensure teaching effectiveness and the attainment of the goals and objectives of BSOA, outcomes-based teaching and learning, and modern means of curriculum delivery that will expose the students to the real world of administrative professionals’ tasks like simulation and cooperative education internship in-office systems are used.
Recognizing the Past
The Department of Office Administration of Central Mindanao University is continually producing quality graduates since 1978. Forty-two (42) years of continuous academic excellence. The Program of the department was formerly known as Business Education until 2003 when renaming of the program to Office Administration was pursued to be more relevant to the present times.
