AUTHORITY TO OPERATE
The University's thrusts of providing quality education for the disadvantaged, underserved sectors in Mindanao and its commitment to train and provide manpower skilled with competencies for entrepreneurship and employment in developing agencies and agro-industrial enterprises were materialized by offering the two (2) curricular programs in 1977. These programs were the Bachelor of Science in Business Education (BSBEd) with Teacher and Office Management Options and the two-year Certificate in Secretarial Science. The two programs were then offered under the College of Education.
The advent of modern technology in the country called for the revision of the curricular offerings in the department. To offer a relevant and responsive academic program attuned to the needs of the modern times, The Department proposed the offering of the Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA) program in 2003 (BOR Resolution No. 48, 2. 2003). The BSBEd program was then phased.
Due to the increasing demand of skilled and competent manpower in the business industry and government sector, a methodical study on the upgrading of its curricular program was made after a stakeholders' was conducted in the presence of the University Curriculum Committee and other university officials. The revised BSOA program was then implemented in the 1st Semester, SY 2008-2009. In 2009, the Department was transferred to the College of Commerce and Accountancy (now College of Business and Management).
With the implementation of the K to 12 basic education program, the BSOA program was revised to be compliant with the new policies, standards, and guidelines set by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), CMO No. 19, s. 2017 and CMO 20, s. 2013 (General Education Curriculum: Holistic Understandings, Intellectual and Civic Competencies). The proposed revised curriculum was presented to the various stakeholders of the program. The curriculum was also evaluated by the University Curriculum Committee and approved by the University Academic Council, and finally by the CMU Board of Regents.
