Important notes 

• The English department policy is that there is no extra credit given for 7th or 8th-grade ELA

• The school policy is there is no rounding of grades of any kind 

• Participation grades cannot be made up unless the student was/is absent 

Retake Policy on Reading Quizzes

Reading quizzes cannot be retaken to encourage students to take their reading assignments seriously and develop effective time management and study habits. By making quizzes a one-time opportunity, I promote the idea that students should come prepared and engage with the material thoroughly. 

This approach not only reflects the real-world expectation of meeting deadlines and being accountable for one's work but also encourages students to develop a strong foundation in comprehension and retention skills. Allowing retakes may inadvertently promote procrastination and discourage students from taking their reading assignments as seriously as other graded assessments, which can ultimately hinder their academic growth and preparation for future challenges.
