Welcome to Kindergarten! This promises to be a fun-filled year with many opportunities for learning, meeting new friends, and growing physically, academically, emotionally, and socially. I am thrilled to be teaching Kindergarten again this year at CME. After graduation from Iowa State University, I began my teaching career working for the Des Moines Public School System in Des Moines, Iowa. My husband, Scott and I moved to San Jose, California where I taught for the Cupertino Unified School District in grades 4, 5, and 6. Six years later, we had the wonderful gift of our first child, Abigail, which led us to move to the somewhat slower pace of life here in Colorado. Four years later, we welcomed to the world our second daughter, Emma. I took time away from the classroom to be a full-time mom, but continued to use my skills as teacher in the role of volunteer classroom parent helper, PTO member, Art in a Suitcase helper, and many other such activities for parent help here at CME. Abigail graduated from Colorado State University majoring in Biology and is currently working for a data analysis company called Dynatrace. Abby married the love or her life, Davis Tutt on September 12, 2020! Emma graduated from Colorado State University in 2020 majoring in Fermentation Science. She currently is living in Denver and is the Colorado Territory Manager for Athletic Brewing Company. Prior to my full-time position as kindergarten teacher here at CME, I substitute taught for District 12, took a long-term assignment as the GT teacher here at CME and worked as a half-time interventionist also here at CME. I am very proud to say that Cheyenne Mountain Elementary was the school both of my girls attended during their elementary years, and I am honored to be a part of this remarkable school and incredible staff.Â
