Sleigh Ride!

I hope everyone had a restful Thanksgiving break! This week we are going to learn about the song Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson. The song is mostly played around the holiday season, you might recognize it! Although the song is about a sleigh ride through the snow, it was written on a very hot day. Leroy Anderson wrote the song because he was so hot in July and he wanted to pretend like he was in a much colder place. Throughout the song you can hear instruments that sound like horses hooves on the ground pulling the sleigh, a whip to tell the horses to go, jingle bells on the sleigh and a trumpet that sounds like a horse neighing! Please watch the video of the piece below and then tell me on flipgrid if you liked the song, what instruments you saw and if YOU could write a song what it would be about. Please watch the video of me on flipgrid HERE and then send me a flipgrid response!

This version of sleigh ride is performed by kids ages 16-19 in the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America!
