K-3 students have opportunities to play many of these instruments in band class. If your child wants to continue playing at home, links are provided below to research and purchase.
Keep in mind, the recorder is also a great beginner wind instrument, and can be found at your local music store or online.
4-5 Band students use traditional band instruments, such as the flute, clarinet, trumpet, and trombone.
Flute-like instrument, uses same fingerings as the recorder. Introduced in Kindergarten, used in 1st-3rd.
Clarinet-like instrument, including synthetic reed, similar fingerings to recorder. Used in 1st-3rd.
Plastic brass instrument, similar to a trombone with slide and mouthpiece for buzzing. Used in Kindergarten-2nd.
Newly added to our school:
Saxophone-like instrument, including synthetic reed. Used in 3rd grade.
Baritone/trumpet-like instrument, with valves and mouthpiece for buzzing. Used in 3rd grade.
