This is my eighth year at UPCA, my fifteenth year teaching band, and my twenty-sixth year being in band! I love all forms of making music. I started learning music when I was in the first grade by playing piano. I started band in the sixth grade, where I first chose trumpet, but then I was switched to horn, and I still play the horn to this day! I also sing in choir at church, and with the radio in my car. Through my instruments I have been able to play in concert, jazz, and marching bands, orchestras, small ensembles, and have even been able to play music in other countries! Music can open your world to so many great experiences!
I received my Bachelors in Instrumental Music Education at Appalachian State University (go Mountaineers!). I currently play in the Charlotte Concert Band, a local community band that performs throughout the year. Visit charlotteconcertband.org to find out when and where we are playing!
When I'm not teaching and making music, I love to do puzzles, play in the snow (even though we don't get very much here), photography, watch college football (go Hokies and Mountaineers!), and visit my family in Virginia.Â
