How will my child get to and from school?
Transportation may be provided for your child by means of school bus or contracted taxi service. Transportation assignments are decided upon by the CMS transportation department based on bus routes and your location.
Who should I call for transportation related questions or concerns?
If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s transportation OR if you need to report an absence from the bus/taxi, you should call the CMS transportation department or the taxi service he/she is assigned to. This will be the quickest way to resolve any issue you may have.
What about a car seat?
The necessity for a Child Safety Restraint System (CSRS) should have been determined at your child’s last IEP meeting. Depending on the size and weight of your child, this may be a STAR seat (similar to a car seat) or a safety belt that is fastened to a bus seat. If a CSRS is written in your child’s IEP, he/she will be required to use the seat/harness in order to ensure the safest ride possible. If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s safety on the school bus, please contact his/her teacher.
