At Torrence Creek, 5th grade General Education students who exhibit strong leadership, good character, and willingness to assist are given the opportunity to apply to be a UNIFIED CHAMPION BUDDY.
These students meet with our students in the gym every Wednesday afternoon to practice specific skills needed to compete in Special Olympic games.
These students support and encourage our special friends to work hard, try their best, and never give up. They are peer coaches when we go Special Olympic events and with our school-wide Field Day at the end of the year.

The Allegro Foundation is not associated with the Special Olympics but will be utilized this school year to provide more opportunities for academic growth and inclusion with our Unified Champion Buddies. The Allegro Foundation aims to emphasize the total learning process by combining cognitive and muscle memories to stimulate sequential and conceptual learning, problem-solving skills and communication, while also building motor skills/physical coordination, and eliciting strong emotional and physiological changes in the body.
