5th graders at Sharon Elementary will be playing ukulele with Ms. E. Students do not need to purchase a ukulele, but will be able to share Ms. E's classroom ukes during music class! However, if you'd like to purchase your own ukulele, please be sure of the following:
1) Purchase a good quality soprano or concert ukulele. The color is up to you! Check the online reviews or ask the salesperson to help you choose wisely. I suggest the Makala, Kala and Luna Ukuleles. You can buy on Amazon (see below for links) or go to a local music store like Music and Arts or Guitar Center.
2) Purchase a gig bag/case for your ukulele.
3) Purchase a tuner for your ukulele.
4) Tune at home if you have an adult helper who is familiar with tuning string instruments. Or, you can bring your ukulele and tuner to Ms. E so she can help you learn to tune correctly. It will take a couple weeks of playing and tuning to keep a ukulele in tune.
5) Go on YouTube and learn some basics. Don't be afraid to experiment and learn on your own!
