Academic Self Advocacy
"Ms. Schleien, I have a bad grade! What can I do?"
Talk to your teacher --
"May I retake the test?"
"May I do test corrections?"
"Can I come for tutoring before or after school?"
"Do you have extra resources that would help me understand this material?"
"May I move to the front of the classroom so that I can focus better?"
"Is there something else that I can do to improve my grade?"
Self improvement --
Find a classmate that can help you
Find an older student that can tutor you
Organize your notes
Schedule extra time to complete your assignments for that class
Make sure that you always do and submit your assignments ON TIME!
Change seats -- sit in the front of class
Watch extra videos about the target material at home to support your in-class learning
Study a little bit every day -- don't cram in your studying the night before a test!
If you don't understand something in class, ASK! Don't wait until the subject has changed.
Talk to Ms. Schleien! She may have another recommendation
