Battle of the Books

Purpose

The purpose of Battle of the Books is to encourage middle school students to read by exposing them to quality young adult literature. Your responsibility as a team member is to read the books from the Battle of the Books List 2019-2020 and to memorize all of the author and title names. Explanation

Students will read books from the Battle of the Books list, focusing on questioning, comprehension, and literary elements. Students will prepare for competition through participation in mock competitions, group discussions, and games.

Goals

Students will gain knowledge and demonstrate their knowledge of the books to compete in mock and actual competitions. Students will work as a team to support and cooperate with one another in the competition setting.

Objectives

Students will gain knowledge of the books as evidenced by completion of activities, completion of questions, and written and oral responses.

Schedule

We will meet every other Friday at 8:00 AM in the media center. Please turn in your application prior to our first meeting.
