About Ms. Young
This is my nineteenth year teaching in CMS, my twelfth year with the TD department, and my fourth year at Oakhurst. I moved to Charlotte from Penfield, NY which is outside of Rochester in western NY. I graduated from a very small college called SUNY Fredonia in 2003 with my degree in education, obtained my gifted licensure in 2006, and graduated with my masters in Curriculum and Supervision in August 2008. I completed my portfolio for National Board certification and became certified in 2010. I graduated this summer, 2022, with my second masters degree in Information Science. I am a true believer in the term "lifelong learner" and know that there's so much more out there that I can do.

My favorite subject to teach is math, but I also love to read. I don't think I could ever pick one book as my favorite but I've really enjoyed the Harry Potter series, Alice in Wonderland, anything by Roald Dahl or Christopher Paul Curtis, and even a few books actually written for adults. I have two cats that are named after book characters, Sirius and Alice, and a dog named Abby. I love anything with butterflies on it and would wear flip flops every day of my life if my toes wouldn't get too cold!
