I am so excited to be at North Academy of World Languages this year to start my 16th year of school counseling! I will be working with K through 4th grade students this year! I have been in this area since 2000 (I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from Penn State) but worked 9 of my counseling years in a different county...I am so happy to be at NAWL!

Ms. Joanne Anderson, M.A, GCSL
Middle School Counselor
My name is Joanne Anderson, and I am excited to start my fourth year at NAWL, and my 27th year in public education. I received my B.A. in English and Secondary Education from Pfeiffer University, my M.A. in Counseling from UNCC, and a Graduate Certificate in School Leadership from Appalachian State. I have served as a school counselor in the elementary, middle and alternative school settings from the past 22 years. I began my career as a high school English teacher. My professional interests include play therapy, trauma-informed schools and restorative practices in the school setting.
