Welcome to Miss White’s Spanish 1 Class!
What to expect: This semester we will be working through a lot of different material. We will be focusing on Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening skills!.
How to be in touch with Miss White:
Best is e-mail :melanie1.white@cms.k12.nc.us
BEGINNING OF CLASS:
Put your backpacks away, and be ready to get started
GRADING POLICY: The teacher does not “give” grades. She keeps score, like in a ball game. Good grades don’t just happen, but result from positive classroom behavior, and good study skills. It is YOUR responsibility as a student to work hard and make enough points to earn a good grade.
40% of your 2nd or 4th quarter grade will be the STAMP test, and 20% is the final exam
Late work will be deducted 5 points per day up to 5 school days. After this, the most you can earn is a 50. Be careful! Work that is not turned in, will receive a 0. No work will be accepted for the Unit 5 days after the Unit test.
Attitude about the Class:
· This class requires attention and hard work. You must be patient and continue to try, even if at times you feel lost and confused. Giving up is NOT an option! I am available after school to answer questions and help you with anything you might have a problem with. Tutoring will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I am not a mind reader. If you don’t understand, you must let me know immediately.
Absences: YOU are responsible for finding out what went on, turning in assignments, and arranging with the teacher to make up any tests you have missed. Tests must be made up within 3 days of coming back to school. If you missed the day of the test, you will be expected to take the test upon returning. You are not exempt from the test if you missed the day before. Tests are usually announced 3-4 days in advance. Homework must be made up within 3 days as well, and turned in. Students are not allowed to have more than 10 absences. If you do miss more than 10 days, you will be required to make up the seat time, or you WILL FAIL the class.
I look forward to a great semester!
