BEGINNING OF CLASS:
Be in your seat, quiet when the bell rings. You should have an assignment on the board to get started on as soon as you walk in the door. Bring materials to class! Make sure you have a writing utensil and any other materials you need.
ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENTELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT: Chromebooks will be used in class on a daily basis. Phones and earbuds will be taken up at the beginning of class. You will get the phone back at the end. If a phone is not turned in seen in class, a referral will be written.
GRADING POLICY:The teacher does not “give” grades. She keeps score, like in a ball game. Good grades don’t just happen, but result from positive classroom behavior, and good study skills. It is YOUR responsibility as a student to work hard and make enough points to earn a good grade.
Grading Breakdown:
This year we will have three categories for grading:
Prepare: Including, homework, exit tickets, warm up 20% of grade
Rehearse: including but not limited to quizzes, projects, classwork, 30% of grade.
Perform: Unit Tests 50% of grade
Late work will be deducted 5 points per day up to 5 school days. After this, the most you can earn is a 50. Be careful! Work that is not turned in, will receive a 0. Work turned in after a Unit test will have 5 days to receive partial credit. It will not be accepted after that time.
Attitude about the Class:
· This class requires attention and hard work. You must be patient and continue to try, even if at times you feel lost and confused. Giving up is NOT an option! I am available after school to answer questions and help you with anything you might have a problem with. Tutoring will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
· I am not a mind reader. If you don’t understand, you must let me know immediately.
Absences: YOU are responsible for finding out what went on, turning in assignments, and arranging with the teacher to make up any tests you have missed. Tests must be made up within 3 days of coming back to school. If you missed the day of the test, you will be expected to take the test upon returning. You are not exempt from the test if you missed the day before. Tests are usually announced 3-4 days in advance. Homework must be made up within 3 days as well, and turned in.
If you miss more than 10 days of class, you will FAIL the class.
I look forward to a great semester!
