The mission of the music program at Selwyn Elementary is to develop a greater understanding and love of music through singing, reading, playing instruments, moving, listening (analyzing) and composing. I charge myself, as your child's music teacher,to help foster an appreciation for music that lasts a lifetime.
We are very fortunate that the arts (visual and performance) are a top-priority and focus at Selwyn Elementary. Throughout your child's learning experience (Kindergarten-5th Grade), there is a multitude of musical performance opportunities on hand, no matter the grade level.
Here are just a few highlights of the musical performances here at Selwyn:
grade level performances (Kindergarten-3rd Grade)
staggered throughout the school year
typically 2 grade levels perform on the same night with different performance materials
5th Graders have an opportunity to join/perform in a Broadway Jr. musical
Musicals vary each year (previous performances have included: "Annie, Jr.", "Shrek, Jr.", "Seussical, Jr.", etc.!)
Sponsored by our amazing PTA
Soaring Singers Chorus (4th/5th Grade)
