Grade Calculations:
Tutoring:
I will be available for after school tutoring on Tuesdays from 2:30-4:000, but the other English I teachers are also available throughout the week (You may view their tutoring schedule in the syllabus).
Students must show up on time to receive tutoring. Parents, please ensure that your child will have a ride home from tutoring. In certain circumstances, I am willing to give a car ride home for students who stay after for tutoring. In this case, I will need to have formal written permission from the student's legal guardian prior to tutoring.
Cell Phone/Technology Policy:
Students are NOT permitted to have their cell phones, ear buds, head phones, iPads, tablets, etc. out without permission. I do have a designated Charging Station in my classroom, but students must provide their own phone charger. Students may connect their cell phone to the Charging Station at the beginning of class, and it must remain there for the duration of class. If student chooses not to use Charging Station, his/her cell phone must remain stored inside of student’s bag for the duration of class. If there is an emergency, then a student must approach me so I can let them go somewhere private. The reason for this is that having technology out, or ear buds in, hinders the student’s ability to fully focus on the lesson, which results in missing vital information.
Plagiarism and Cheating
Plagiarism is theft. Plagiarism means using someone else’s words and/or ideas without proper credit, whether it is intentional or by accident. Ignorance of what constitutes plagiarism does not excuse one from the consequences of committing plagiarism.
Here’s what happens if, I document that you have plagiarized:
Self-Advocacy
At the high school level of the IB Program, we strongly encourage students to self-advocate. If students have questions concerning grades, or if they do not understand a concept, we strongly urge them to begin advocating for themselves and initiating contact with the appropriate people.
