SORA How To's

How to Use SORA

SORA is the free system Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools has for accessing ebooks and audiobooks.  You will be able to use this system to access books from: Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, the Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, and the North Carolina Digital Kids Library. You will also need to access SORA for some of the resources needed for your classroom work. SORA books return automatically at the end of the due date.  However, readers are encouraged to return them early if they are finished with them to "free them up" for others.  See below for some videos to help you get started and naviagate SORA.

Be sure to use the Filters to limit your preferences (Under Audience) to "Juvenile" so your student will have access to age and grade level appropriate books.

Browsing Collections and Searching for Titles in SORA

Find your next great read! Use quick or advanced searching, browse hand-picked collections, set search preferences, and more. **Please note, the statement under "Collections" that says "Books picked for you just by your teachers" is a generic term and does not mean those are geared towards an individual student.  However, you may find useful information in this section such as the EL Curriculum titles under "Toys" for Kindergarten and the EL Curriculum Titles under "Tools" for 1st grade.**
