My philosophy of education is that all students are unique and must have a stimulating educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. It is my desire to create this type of atmosphere where students can meet their full potential and explore who they are through art-making. I work to provide a safe environment where students are invited to share their ideas and take risks.
What excites me most about teaching is being able to utilize different media to create inclusivity in the classroom. I aim to provide students with various materials and artmaking prompts to embrace all students’ abilities in both artmaking, interpreting content differently, and relating it to each of their own lives. By allowing students to learn about a variety of creative practices and diverse artists, we can broaden their understanding of their own abilities. As students create works of art responding to art made by others, they investigate ideas and construct meaningful connections to learning across curricula.
