Get Ready to Shoot Some Hoops!
In November, Bain Elementary is hosting its very first Hoops Shoot Competition! We are so excited to be a part of the Elks Lodge National Hoops Shoot contest. Students will compete for a chance to move all the way to the national championship!
How the contest works:
Step 1: Classroom Competitions! The fun begins in your student's PE class! Each classroom will hold its own competition to find the 2 best free-throw shooters.
Step 2: Bain Finals! The winners from each classroom will move on to the Bain Elementary Finals. At the school finals, participants will compete by age group and gender:
Age groups: 8 and 9-year-olds, 10 and 11-year-olds, and 12 and 13-year-olds.
Separate contests for boys and girls in each age group.
8/9 year-olds: will shoot from a special free-throw line, 4 feet closer to the hoop.
10/11 and 12/13 year-olds: will shoot from the regular free-throw line, 15 feet away.
What happens if you win the Bain Finals?
The champions from Bain Elementary will move on to the next level: the All Charlotte Area Contest, held at Alexander Graham Middle School on January 11, 2026. From there, you could go on to the state, regional, and even national finals! If your child makes it to our Bain finals, a letter with all the details will be sent home.
