Who is Mrs. Powers?

Hello! My name is Stacey Powers. 

I am on of the Talent Development/Catalyst Teachers at 

South Academy of International Languages and Allenbrook Elementary.

A little bit about me .... I am married with two kids. My husband's name is Stephen and we have been married since 2005. We have to boys: Max is in 12th grade and Luke is in 9th grade at South Mecklenburg High School . They both play baseball year round, so when I'm not in school, I'm usually on the baseball field! We also have a 3 year old dog named Blaze and a 2 year old dog name Pedro. I am originally from the Boston, MA area, but have lived in Charlotte for 21 years!

A little bit about my education and work experience ... I am a life long learner and have spent most of my adult life teaching and taking classes. I have a B.A. in psychology, and a M.ED in Elementary Ed. I am also certified in Elementary Math, Gifted and Talented and am National Board Certified.

I have been teaching since 2000. I first started teaching in a Montessori preschool and then taught in a Montessori charter elementary school while I completed my Montessori training. Upon moving to Charlotte, I continued my work in the Montessori environment at Highland Mill Montessori School, a CMS school. I was there until 2016. At that time I moved to Albemarle Road Elementary here in Charlotte and taught fourth grade for 2 years. I began my new role as a TD teacher in 2018.
