Math Olympiad
Fourth and fifth grade students have been diligently preparing for the Math Olympiads. These practice sessions and competitions are carefully designed to challenge their mathematical skills and problem-solving abilities. The Math Olympiads cultivate a spirit of healthy competition, while emphasizing the value of perseverance and determination in overcoming obstacles. Additionally, participation in these events provides students with exposure to a wider array of mathematical concepts and real-world applications, enriching their understanding and knowledge of the subject.
Challenge Math
In 3rd grade math, we have been working on solving problems that use all four operations—addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division! Our focus is on tackling multi-step problems where we need to think carefully and use different strategies to find the right answers. Students are learning how to use number sense, which means they are getting better at recognizing patterns, estimating, and breaking down bigger problems into smaller, easier steps. This helps them feel confident when dealing with tricky math problems and makes the numbers easier to work with. Keep practicing those math strategies at home to become even better at solving problems!
This year, our students have explored a variety of novels, including The One and Only Ivan, Hatchet, and The Watsons Go to Birmingham. These readings expand vocabulary, strengthen language skills, and encourage meaningful connections. By fostering critical thinking and enhancing logical reasoning, our ELA activities and novel studies promote deeper analysis, concentration, and attention to detail, encouraging higher-level thinking and problem-solving.
