Classwork - Warm-ups, Worksheets, ect.
If a student shows effort a grade no less than a 50% will be given.
If a students shows no effort or does not turn in the assignment a grade of 0% will be given.
NEW Grading Scale
A - 90% to 100%
B - 80% to 89%
C - 70% to 79%
D - 60% to 69%
● Assessments should be standards-based and measure students’ level of mastery on specific learning objectives.
● Additional practice will be provided for students who do not achieve initial mastery(79%).
● Following additional practice, new opportunities shall be provided to measure student mastery. A maximum score of 79% can be earned.
● Late work and make-up work must be accepted until the end of each quarter.
● A student who misses homework or other assignments or due dates because of absences, whether excused or unexcused, must be allowed to make up the work. Arrangements for completing the work should be made within five school days of the student’s return to school. Arrangements should include a schedule for completion of the work. For middle and high school students, the student must initiate the contact with the teacher.
● In all circumstances, homework and other assignments should be accepted, even when turned in after the designated due date.
● If the student was present in class on the due date, the work may be given less credit. There will be a 10 point deduction each day. Any work submitted by a student after 5 days can not receive a grade lower than a 50.
● If the student was not present in class on the due date because of an excused absence, the work may be given less credit after the five day excuse period.
● Students who fail to score at least 79% on an assessment (major tests or formal assessments) will have the opportunity to retake the assessment once.
● Students will have opportunities during the school day and before/after school to gain the deficit knowledge necessary to demonstrate mastery when the assessment is re-administered.
● The re-test will cover the same content/material, but will not be identical to the original test.
● Tutoring is a mandatory step taken prior to retesting.
● The retest score obtained may be higher than 79%, but the gradebook grade will not reflect anything higher than 79% for a re-test score.
For example: If the first score is 65% and the second score is
90% then the final gradebook score is 79%.
● Re-tests should take place within 5 days of the original feedback date.
