I have been married for over 25 years. My wife, Amy, works for an insurance agency in Lincolnton. I have one daughter who just got married this summer. Her new husband is an officer for CMPD. She is a graduate of Belmont Abbey College and is beginning her 3rd year of teaching elementary school. My son just graduated from high school last June and he is starting his first year at Wingate University as a sophomore. He is also a college athlete and will be participating in Cross Country and Track this year. I am a graduate of UNC Charlotte with a BS in Business Administration. A few years ago, I went back to graduate school at UNC Charlotte and obtained my middle school teaching certification. Prior to coming to the Island, I taught 8th grade Math, Math I and Science in Catawba County. I have also taught 7th grade math and 6th grade math & science in the past. Before entering the education field, I worked as a software support person for a small company for many years. During those years, I had the opportunity to visit many interesting manufacturing facilities throughout the southeast. I am always intrigued by all that goes on in a manufacturing plant. It is amazing to watch machines that cut, shape, mix, assemble and package many of the things we see in our everyday lives. I have also worked in sales and management jobs in the past. I feel that my prior work experience outside of education can sometimes help me give real life examples of how certain math & science concepts are used in the real world.
