My name is Mrs. Shabazz, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to be your Media Coordinator at Marie G. Davis. From a young age, I have always had an undeniable thirst for knowledge and a deep love for technology, information and the Arts.
I was born and raised in the vibrant city of Detroit, MI. I was fortunate to be surrounded by a diverse array of cultural experiences that shaped my passion for creativity, and expression.
The arts have always held a special place in my heart - performance, visual, or media arts. The Arts has allowed me to explore and celebrate the beauty in the world around me. Even outside of my professional life, I find joy in expressing myself through writing, singing in groups and at special events, and engaging in physical activities that keep both my body and mind active.
Family has always been at the center of my life, and I am blessed to have a loving partner, Rahsheem, and three beautiful children - Mina, Misani and Elijah. They bring immense joy and fulfillment to my life, and I cherish the time we spend together. Traveling to new places with them and exploring the great outdoors is one of my favorite things to do.
Education has played a significant role in shaping my journey. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Secondary Music Education from NC A&T State University. The program nurtured my passion for teaching and further developed my musical skills. Driven by my desire to enhance my technological expertise, I pursued a Master's degree in Media Education/Technology and Computers from Appalachian State University. Currently, I am working towards my second Master's degree in Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, expanding my knowledge in a field that I am deeply passionate about.
The first 11 years of my career were dedicated to music education within CMS, where I had the incredible opportunity to inspire and educate students in the power of music. Now, I have embarked on a new chapter in my career as the Media Coordinator at Marie G. Davis.
I can now combine my love for information literacy, 21st-century technology, career advancement, and the arts into a role where I can help shape the academic pursuits and foster a love for learning in teachers and students.
My life journey has been a whirlwind of exploration, growth, and dedication. From my roots in the arts and education to my current role as a Media Coordinator, my mission has always been to inspire and empower those around me.
