Hello! Welcome to Sophomore English, AP Seminar, and AP Language and Composition at Providence HS.
I'm Mrs. Jenkins. I grew up in SE Texas on the Gulf Coast - the oldest of four - I have three younger brothers and lots of nieces and nephews.
I hold a Master of Liberal Arts in the field of English from Harvard and a Master of Education from Clemson #GoTigers, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in English and National Board Certification in English along with certification as a Holocaust Educator through the Stan Greenspon Holocaust and Social Justice Center at Queens University of Charlotte. Currently, I am pursuing a Doctorate in Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
My husband is an AP English and IB Philosophy teacher at another high school here in Charlotte - we got married on author Henry David Thoreau's birthday because we are that kind of English teacher nerds and Thoreau's mantra "simplicity, simplicity, simplicity" is important to us as a reminder about balance.
I love reading (obvious career prerequisite) - but please don't ask me to pick a favorite book as that would be nearly impossible.
My husband and I share our home with husky twins - Moro and Seamus. We enjoy hiking in the NC mountains as well as traveling as much and as often as we can, particularly as I'm a shutterbug and love taking photographs of people and places all over the world. You can often find me with a camera bopping around Providence as I also work with our student photographers on the yearbook staff.
I am excited to work with each of you this year! #OneProv
