Learning Immersion (LI) and Talent Development (TD) is a program designed for advanced and gifted learners. We provide rigorous instruction that promotes analytical, creative and critical thinking skills.
Learning Immersion (K-2)
Learning Immersion is embedded into instruction for all scholars grades K-2. Enrollment in the lottery for Learning Immersion is open to all registered CMS K-2 students; however, we encourage you to consider your child's strengths. Please review the checklist to help you determine if LI is the best fit for your child. We also encourage you to have a preschool, daycare, or classroom teacher review the list as well to help you with this decision.
Talent Development (3-5)
TD classes grades 3-5 are classrooms for certified gifted scholars with a teacher who is educated in delivering gifted resources and strategies. Students entering the lottery in 3rd-5th grade must be identified as TD or academically and intellectually gifted through district guidelines (see Identification). All 5th grade TD magnet students will receive automatic placement in an IB middle school. Learning Immersion students who are not identified as TD by 3rd grade will remain in the LI program through fifth grade. Scholars that are admitted to LI through the lottery receive placement in an IB middle school if they receive a 3 or higher on their EOG's.
All CMS scholars are universally screened for Gifted Identification during their 2nd grade year. Please click here to view the district guidelines regarding the scholar identification process.
